The Source Protection Programme

The Source Protection Programme is a unique operational and information security training course for journalists, delivered online through hands-on practical training sessions and interactive resources over six to eight weeks. Since 2021, the program has been developed and delivered with our partner The Centre for Investigative Journalism (UK).

Throughout 2023, we are running a series of free courses for investigative journalists, newsrooms, and freelancers in Europe and other international regions outside North America where resources and support are limited.

In 2024, we will launch some cohorts serving regions in the United States, with a focus on supporting nonprofit, local, and rural newsrooms.

This work is made possible by generous support from The Reva & David Logan Foundation, among other valued partner organizations supporting a free press around the world.

Digital Security for Filmmakers

We are proud to have partnered with documentary film nonprofit Field_of_Vision to create the Digital Security for Filmmakers guide (2021) and run an accompanying Digital Security Clinic training series (2021-present) for documentary filmmakers looking to bolster their digital security.

The guide is interactive and includes a risk assessment, additional resources, and a glossary of terms. We ran the clinic — a free series of training including optional expert consultation hours — in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

We plan to offer the clinic again in 2024.
