Donor-advised funds
Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) can accept charitable contributions from any donor-advised fund. Our tax ID is 46-0967274.
Stock transfer
Giving appreciated stock held longer than one year may offer tax-savings benefits, allowing you to deduct the fair market value and avoid paying capital gains taxes.
To transfer stock, please email our team at [email protected] for instructions or fill out our form to receive a customized letter to initiate your transfer.
IRA qualified charitable distributions
You can make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA if you’re 70 ½ years of age or older. If you are age 73 or older and need to take a required minimum distribution, a QCD can count toward your required minimum distribution. A QCD withdrawal is not treated as taxable income.
For 2026, you can donate up to $111,000.
To make a QCD, contact your IRA administrator for instructions.
Employer-matched gifts
If your employer offers a matching gift program, you can double — or even triple — your impact. We’ll provide a tax receipt that you can submit with your company’s matching gift form. Our tax ID is 46-0967274.
Questions? Email us at [email protected].
Gifts in wills and other planned gifts
Make a gift in your will; designate FPF as a beneficiary of a retirement account, investment account, life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund; or give real estate, among many other options. To learn more, email our team at [email protected].
Vehicle donations
FPF partners with the nonprofit CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to facilitate vehicle donations. CARS will arrange a free pickup of your vehicle, handle the sale, and provide you with a tax-deduction receipt. The proceeds from your donation directly support FPF’s work to protect press freedom. To learn more or start a vehicle donation, visit our page on the CARS website.
