Donor-advised funds
Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) can accept charitable contributions from any donor-advised fund. Our tax ID is 46-0967274.
For most DAFs, you can give online from our website with just a few clicks, using DAFpay:
Stock transfer
Giving appreciated stock held longer than one year may offer tax-savings benefits, allowing you to deduct the fair market value and avoid paying capital gains taxes.
To transfer stock, please email our team at [email protected] for instructions or fill out our form to receive a customized letter to initiate your transfer.
Cryptocurrency
FPF supports donations in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Zcash, and Stellar.
IRA qualified charitable distributions
You can make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA if you’re 70 ½ years of age or older. If you are age 73 or older and need to take a required minimum distribution, a QCD can count toward your required minimum distribution. A QCD withdrawal is not treated as taxable income.
For 2025, you can donate up to $108,000. In 2026, the maximum is $115,000.
To make a QCD, contact your IRA administrator for instructions.
Employer-matched gifts
If your employer offers a matching gift program, you can double — or even triple — your impact. We’ll provide a tax receipt that you can submit with your company’s matching gift form. Our tax ID is 46-0967274.
