Freedom of the Press Foundation is developing Dangerzone, a tool that takes potentially dangerous PDFs, office documents, or images and converts them to safe PDFs. We have been developing this tool with journalists, activists, and whistleblowers in mind, since these are people who need to open documents from untrusted sources.
It has come to our attention, though, that a certain jolly user faces a pretty similar situation these holidays, and uses Dangerzone to open letters from kids all around the globe. If you didn’t expect this heightened sense of security from Santa, you will definitely not expect that his trusted team of elves is throwing a bug bounty to find security holes in Dangerzone, before a letter brings Santa’s laptop down.
