‘Privacy Under Pressure’

The 404 Media Podcast host Sam Cole welcomed our own Harlo Holmes, chief security programs officer at Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) and head of the digital security team, to talk about privacy rights, digital safety, and how they’re constantly evolving.

Cole and Holmes touched on the feeling of an increased risk for everyday people and journalists for device seizure, how to find your own sweet spot of situational awareness, and historical resistance in the U.S. and abroad to adoption of technology.

“Situational awareness, I think, goes a long way and that might not be something that people are used to practicing, especially where phones are concerned,” Holmes said.
